摘要: Various studies have outlined the institutional (e.g. existence of quota laws and electoral system type a country) non-institutional factors political culture that account for variation in women’s representation, general, and, more detail, low representation women US Congress. However, no study has, so far, compared Congressional career paths men order to understand whether this gender gap stems from difference terms duration importance careers male female policymakers. Using data on all House elections between 1972 2012, we provide such an analysis, evaluating or not Representatives are different their counterparts. Our findings indicate congressional alike if anything, may even small edge over colleagues.
