摘要: Fifteen episodes of the adult respiratory distress syndrome occurred in 14 patients after cardiopulmonary bypass. The clinical course was characterized by tachypnea, hyperventilation, and progressive hypoxemia developing postoperatively a symptom-free period. Recovery institution support administration steroids, diuretics, antibiotics. There were no deaths. Prolonged bypass time, history heavy cigarette smoking, tendency to develop cardiocirculatory failure present more frequently these as compared control group ten who experienced an uneventful recovery. Early recognition serial monitoring arterial blood gases aggressive management bronchopulmonary infections are thought be important factors survival.
