摘要: Agriculture is particularly sensitive to environmental risks associated with uncertain atmospheric conditions, such as extreme weather events and variable climate patterns. As a result, it important for farmers the agricultural sector access current science information while developing management portfolios remain resilient productive adapting mitigating against risks. State extension climatologists have unique role in collecting disseminating this public data users, farmers. Because of complex social, cultural, political factors that hinder transfer scientific consensus on knowledge from scientists decision makers, understand how communicated. This study presents surveys (N=19) interviews (N=13) state North Central Region United States regarding their perceived roles currently employed patterns communication. Results are analyzed utilizing an adaptation Fischoff’s (1995) stages risk communication, Pielke’s (2007) idealized society. Findings indicate majority region focused providing objective pure scientist. A lesser number acknowledge need frame relevant important, considering connections societal impacts.
