摘要: Delta (Δ) efficiency is defined as the ratio of an increment in external mechanical power output to increase metabolic required produce it. The purpose present study was investigate whether differences leg muscle activity between running and cycling can explain observed difference Δ two activities. A group 11 subjects performed incremental submaximal tests on successive days. efficiencies during were based five exercise stages. Electromyograph (EMG) measurements made three muscles (gastrocnemius, vastus lateralis biceps femoris). Kendall's correlation coefficients mean EMG load applied calculated for each muscle, both cycling. As expected, (42%) significantly greater than that (25%). For cycling, all showed a significant applied. running, however, only gastrocnemius significant, but low (r=0.33). femoris not different from 0. results interpreted follows. In contrast which includes concentric contractions, up inclines eccentric actions play important role. With steeper inclines, more contractions must be produced overcome force, whereas amount decreases. This change relative contribution actions, combination with fact require much less energy efficiency.
