摘要: The formation of metabolites nasally instilled benzo[a]pyrene [(BP) CAS: 50-32-8] was determined. study prompted by a report that high incidence tumors occurred in tissues the upper respiratory and alimentary tracts Syrian hamsters exposed to BP aerosols. esophagi anesthetized were surgically catheterized so radiolabeled material as nose could be collected analyzed for metabolites. About 50% metabolized and, potentially, would have been swallowed an awake animal. In auxiliary experiments, homogenates tested metabolic activity BP. nose, trachea, lungs had about equally activities on per organ basis (5-7 nmol/hr), whereas all other considerably less activity. results indicate nasal metabolism may important causing well tissues.
