摘要: The present study investigated the relationship between object-based attention and visual short-term memory (VSTM). Three claims were investigated: (a) spatial STM share similar processing resources; (b) object (c) both sets of resources are dissociable. Although first claim is well established, latter two less established due to limited empirical evidence in literature. Specifically, studies that provided for (Matsukura & Vecera, 2008; Tan, 2008) employed an task (Duncan, 1984) with no component heavily engaged STM. These issues addressed using a dual-task paradigm different combinations tasks tasks. used could engage attention, or both. Similarly, STM, Experiment 1 was designed address issue lack by including version previous studies. results consistent all three investigated. 2 heavy engagement (Egly et al., 1994). not entirely claims. while there some support claims, third supported. Overall, findings suggest interaction VSTM complex further required fully describe relationship.
