Evaluation of thyroid dysfunction in patients suffering from diabetes mellitus in a tertiary care hospital

摘要: Diabetes mellitus is an endocrine disorder so it prone to affect other functions, one of which thyroid function. The present study was conducted estimate hormone levels in diabetes (Both type 1, 2) and compare these with normal population (control). Fasting blood samples from 50 diabetic subjects (7 1 43 non control were analysed. Out the patients for study, 21 are males (3 type1 18 29 females (4 25 2). Of 31(62%) euthyroid, 7 (14.0%) had primary hypothyroidism (6females 1male), (2.0%) hyperthyroidism (only male), 9 (18%)  had  subclinical (1 male 8 females), 2 (4.0%) female). Maximum cases (subclinical clinical) seen group. There only groups having disorders. So disorders group highly significant as compared As level Glycosylated Hb (HbA1c) increases chances also increases. high prevalence diabetes. Thyroid more common most hypothyroidism. association frequent diabetics who have deranged metabolic control.
