摘要: Adaptations in infrastructure may be necessitated by changes temperature and precipitation patterns to avoid losses maintain expected levels of service. A roster adaptation strategies has emerged the climate change literature, especially with regard timing: anticipatory, concurrent, or reactive. Significant progress been made studying decision making that incorporates uncertainty, but less work examined how interact existing characteristics influence adaptability. We use a virtual testbed highway drainage crossings configured selection actual culvert emplacements Colorado, USA, examine effect strategy on cost efficiency service level under varying rates change. meta-model approach multinomial regression is used compare value better predictions knowledge crossing characteristics. find that, for distributed system infrastructural units like culverts, knowing more about can improve efficacy than projections Transportation departments choosing often lack detailed data gathering could despite uncertainty.
