Potentiality of clay raw materials from Gram area (Northern Tunisia) in the ceramic industry

摘要: Abstract The geological study of Miocene clays from Gram area, North West Tunisia shows an important series clay materials to use them in the faience ceramic. Selected samples were studied with objective analyzing their chemical and mineralogical composition, morphology, particle size, plasticity, thermal analysis ceramic aptitude be used Raw are mainly composed illite kaolinite dominant minerals minor quartz dolomite. plasticity indexes lower than 15.40%, suggesting that these not plastic. Technical characterization was carried out on one representative mixture samples. firing characteristics (shrinkage water absorption) measured. optimum temperature (M) has been established. These could manufacture pieces.
