摘要: The distribution and abundance of Penaeus semisulcatus de Haan larvae in Albatross Bay was studied during the 6 yr from March 1986 to April 1992. study is a component an inves- tigation into causes interannual recruitment variation. Protozoeae were found wide range temperatures salinities both presence absence thermoclines haloclines, although density low water warmer than 30°C. Two distinct peaks larval abun- dance evident: January (summer), August November (spring). First- stage protozoeae rarely summer, later stages common, which sug- gests either that they less catchable summer or most spawning outside area. Three extended cruises 1987 high densities as far 120 km off- shore; these represent wasted reproductive output since are beyond zone effective spawning. annual variations compared with results parallel CSIRO studies other P. life-history Bay. There poor agreement between numbers population fecundity index (a measure egg production), but stronger match postlarvae estuaries, particularly summer. This indicates variable rates hatching early survival may be important deter- minants successful fishery.
