摘要: The first case report of leukopenia with neutropenia due to the new glycopeptide antibiotic teicoplanin is described. side effect occurred in a 73-year-old man hospitalized because subacute bacterial endocarditis caused by Streptococcus faecalis. Leukopenia (white blood cells 2000/mm3, neutrophils 46%) developed after 20 days therapy. After stopping white cell and neutrophil counts reverted normal, but dropped again on rechallenge. A review 1500 records patients treated alone or combination other drugs was also performed. Five cases were found which possibly (four cases) probably (one case) related From these preliminary data incidence seems be low.
