摘要: Background Nontraumatic subdural hematoma (NTSDH) is a common neurosurgical disease process, with mortality reported as high 13%. Seizure has known association NTSDH, although patient outcomes have not previously been well studied in this population. The purpose of study was to examine the relationship between in-hospital seizure and inpatient NTSDH. Methods Using University HealthSystem Consortium (UHC) database, we performed retrospective cohort adults principal diagnosis NTSDH ( International Classification Diseases, Ninth Revision code 43.21) 2011 2015. Patients codes 34500–34591, 78033, 78039) were compared those without. history before arrival excluded. Patient demographics, hospital length stay (LOS), intensive care unit stay, mortality, direct costs recorded. Results A total 16,928 patients identified. Mean age 69.2 years, 64.7% male. In-hospital documented 744 (4.40%) patients. Hospital LOS 17.64 days 6.26 without P Conclusions correlates significantly increased mortality. Direct are similarly increased. Further studies accounting for effects illness severity necessary validate these results.
