摘要: Increasing agricultural productivity to provide food security for a growing world population is one of the pressing challenges 21st century. Genetic engineering has potential greatly accelerate crop improvement, as it bypasses lengthy process selecting desired trait over several generations that required by classical breeding methods. Genetically modified (GM) foods have been available 20 years; however, public and political concern about risks associated with GM led tight restrictions on their import use in some countries, strict monitoring foodstuffs may contain them. In this context, new group technologies collectively referred ‘Genome Editing’ now being applied plants, which offers advantages standard approaches without many perceived risks. In chapter, we examine safety aspects current crops, considering methods they are produced, what present how these assessed. We also explore currently employed monitor presence prevalence material global industry. Finally, discuss impact Genome Editing next generation genetically engineered foods.
