Fabrication and mechanical properties of Al2O3–Ni composite from two different powder mixtures

摘要: Abstract Al 2 O 3 –4vol.%Ni composites were prepared by hydrogen reduction and hot pressing of powder mixtures NiO obtained two processes, namely, the ball-milled mixing process (process A) coating B). The microstructural features sintering behavior mixtures, mechanical properties investigated. samples synthesized through A B at 1450 1400 °C reached >98% theoretical densities. homogeneity was in agreement with characteristics different mixtures. Compared that A, fabricated exhibited an increase toughness a decrease strength. toughening mainly attributed to crack deflection branching. difference strength discussed observed microstructure fracture model composites. standard deviations (S.D.) indicated had better reliability stability.
