摘要: Glial cells exert a fundamental role in the production of neuroactive steroids central and peripheral nervous system. Steroids so formed, or activated glia may then act by autocrine pathway on same paracrine different glial types neuronal compartment. These mechanisms are integrated with classical endocrine exerted steroid hormones coming from glands. The finding that signaling molecules glia–neuron glia–glia crosstalk, together effects them physiological pathological conditions, strengthens concept they key regulating function.
