摘要: Abstract Under the Environmental Research Programme of Commission European Communities a coordinated comparative test programme was started to assess mutagenic effects chemicals in as many different assay systems possible. A preliminary report is given on results for 5 compounds selected by Contact Group “Genetic Effects Chemicals”. 11 laboratories contributed data from tests their expertise. The were methyl methanesulfonate (MMS), N-nitrosodiethylamine (DEN), mitomycin C (MC), procarbazine (NatulanR) and atrazine. testing these more than 20 are still incomplete but some observations can be made at this time. MMS had been shown every system used collaborative effort which not surprising view fact that widely reference mutagen does require metabolic activation. Among indirect mutagens tested, MC has with almost applied. DEN requires microsomal activation gave positive most submammalian well mammalian cells culture when S9 fraction liver homogenate added. However, whole mammals negative. One study suggests difference may due short biological half-life mutagenically active metabolite. Procarbazine negative microbial response culture, Drosophila mammals. Atrazine only subjected limited amount indicate plant required vitro, metabolite also occurs independent enzymes.
