摘要: Unlike all other primates, members of the subfamily Lorisinae are never seen to leap. To investigate anatomical specializations that behind absence leaping in their locomotor repertoire, a predictive mechanical model was developed using lesser bushbaby, Galago moholi, as size-matched prosimian comparison. This enabled required limb movements for slender loris be calculated, and hence torque power requirements at each hindlimb joints. From this information, maximum feasible leap calculated morphotype, it found alone would prevent animal from greater distance than could walk over, so reduction fitness due an apparent loss behavioural repertoire can considered very small.
