摘要: Agricultural driveline-related incidents have been identified as an important cause of farm-related injury resulting in death and permanently disabling conditions to children adolescents. A database injuries, including both PTO drivelines secondary shafts on agricultural equipment, developed at Purdue University was mined identify all cases involving adolescents under age 18 who had involved a incident from 1970 through 2004. Although these did not account for high percentage childhood this group found make up nearly one four documented driveline incidents. Of the 685 with known ages, 151 were youth 18. Findings indicated that often resulted catastrophic injuries amputation, spinal cord compound bone fractures. Over period studied, trend is declining, recent years reporting below yearly average 2004 no fatalities. Youth, primarily males, 13 highest frequency incidents, over 50% occurred ages 12 17. Fall season most reported Amputations cases, augers, elevators, conveyors machines frequently being incident. Recommendations strategies specifically target problem related are provided.
