摘要: Abstract The dross appearing at the surface of an aluminium melt consists, in addition to aluminium, mainly oxide films but also other non-metallic inclusions. inclusion particles are often poorly wetted by metal and accumulate surface. However, impeller stirred reactors for refining, stirring may be exceedingly strong, inclusions accumulated entrained into bulk metal. Concerning removal, such effects deteriorate effectiveness refining. entrainment buoyant a water model refining reactor is investigated. Under varying operating conditions particle concentration liquid measured laser light attenuation. observed explained theoretically three-dimensional flow analysis. It found that large extent turbulent dispersion mean velocity field. more refined modelling layer floating on top liquid, needed order predict beginning re-entrainment. This crucial quantitative prediction experimental data. Some metallurgical consequences findings discussed.
