摘要: ABSTRACr.-An index of total vegetation volume was strongly correlated with breeding bird density at 31 sites in four separate studies conducted southwestern shrub and desert habitats between 1974 1987. Vegetation not as winter two these studies. We suggest that correlations indicate birds respond to resources associated such a resource-based response may explain well-known patterns the edge effect high avian densities southwest riparian habitats. The technique we describe for measuring provides quick accurate method estimating this simple aspect structure be useful describing plant communities quantitatively.
