摘要: While portions of the mammalian olfactory system have been studied extensively, anterior nucleus (AON) has relatively ignored. Furthermore, existing research is dispersed and obscured by many different nomenclatures approaches. The present review collects assembles sparse literature regarding portion brain situated between bulb primary (piriform) cortex. Included an overview area's organization, functional, morphological neurochemical characteristics its cells a comprehensive appraisal efferent afferent fiber systems. Available evidence suggests existence subdivisions within AON demonstrates that structure influences ongoing activity in other areas. We conclude with discussion AON's mysterious but complex role information processing.
