摘要: This work describes the installation, use, and quality control (QC) of alumina-based tungsten-188 ((188)W)/rhenium-188 ((188)Re) generators provided by Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). In addition, methods used for concentration (188)Re-perrhenate bolus preparation (188)Re-labeled HDD (4-hexadecyl-2,2,9,9-tetramethyl-4,7-diaza-1,10-decanethiol) trans-arterial administration therapy nonresectable liver cancer also are described. The (188)W/(188)Re generator has a long useful shelf-life several months is convenient on-site (188)Re production system. excellent therapeutic imaging properties (T(1/2) 16.9 hours; E(betamax) 2.12 MeV; 155-keV gamma ray, 15%) cost effectively obtained on demand saline elution generator. clinical efficacy variety agents been demonstrated applications. Because favorable physical (188)Re, being developed evaluated treatment nonresectable/refractory cancer. most widely studied these this application introduced into trials at number institutions. inoperable requires use high-level (1-2 Ci) generators. handling such high levels imposes radiological precautions normally not encountered in radiopharmacy adequate care ALARA (ie, "As Low As Reasonably Achievable") principles must be followed. ORNL provides consistently yields (>75%) low (188)W parent breakthrough (<10(-3)%) over an extended months. However, volumes (20-40 mL 1-2 Ci generators) can require postelution passage through silver cation chloride trapping columns cost-effective tandem cation/anion column removes anion as insoluble AgCl, thus allowing subsequent specific perrhenate small (QMA SeaPak) column. method permits with volume saline, providing very activity-concentration solution. (188)Re-specific volume-activity continually decreases time, system especially effective extending shelf-life. flow rates (<1 mL/min) minimize any back pressure which may during generator/tandem when using tightly packed, small-particle-size commercial columns. In-house recommended since capacity essentially unlimited, it inexpensive limited availability to one supplier, eliminated larger particles. Methods (188)Re-HDD have optimized agent yield (80%).
