The validity of self-reported drug use with urine test: results from the pilot phase of Azar cohort study.

摘要: Background: The present study aimed at assessing the validity of self-reported drug use in people aged 35 and older a pilot phase population-based cohort study. Methods: A total 1038 adults over years old Khamene city East Azerbaijan province were recruited for Azar cohort; province-level nationwide PERSIAN completing questionnaire providing biological samples from October to December 2014. Information about history duration smoking tobacco, using medication obtained by physician. was assessed through comparing response with three urine strip tests detection morphine, amphetamine methamphetamine among 259 randomly selected subjects. Results: prevalence according self-report 2.6% (95% CI: 1.7%-3.8%).One-step test as gold standard demonstrated sensitivity(95% CI) specificity 15% (10-22) 99.7% (98.9%-99.9%) respectively. All participants positive male; however, analysis test, it 7out 68 women. Conclusion: this population low; therefore, self reported should be used caution population. It is recommended alternative techniques improve data procedure.
