摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the biosynthesis of Oligosaccharides (O-glycans) N-acetylgalactosamine- α-Ser/Thr linkage type. The synthesis frame-work oligosaccharide chains regulates expression functional terminal carbohydrate structures. Thus, a control on early steps biosynthetic pathways proves to have great impact structures, properties, and biological functions O-glycans. O-Glycosylation commonly changes during development, differentiation, growth, in disease. In addition, various tissues species express characteristic O-glycans associated with functions. Genetic defects are rare; possibly because development multicellular organism is dependent interactions cellular carbohydrate. The sugars found GalNAc, Gal, GlcNAc, sialic acid, fucose. GlcNAc GalNAc may be sulfated contribute acid acidity many mammalian non-mammalian soluble membrane-bound glycoproteins, proteoglycans.
