Are yesterday's fading models and performance metrics adequate for today's wireless systems?

摘要: This paper examines some of the settings commonly used to represent fading. We raise question whether these remain meaningful in light advances that wireless communication systems have undergone over last decade. A number weaknesses are pointed out, and ideas on possible fixes put forth. Some identified do with models that, time, become grossly inadequate; other changes operating conditions modern systems, others coarse asymptotic nature most popular performance metrics.
