摘要: Many global health institutions, including the World Health Organization, consider primary care as path towards achieving universal coverage (UHC). However, there remain concerns about feasibility and effectiveness of this approach in low-resource countries. Ethiopia has been implementing health-care since mid-1970s, with at core system 1993. Nevertheless, comprehensive systemic evidence on practice role UHC is lacking Ethiopia. We made a document review publicly available qualitative quantitative data. Using framework Primary Care Performance Initiative we describe analyse identify successes challenges. Implementation possible through policies, strategies programmes that are aligned country priorities. There diagonal to disease control along health-systems strengthening, community empowerment multisectoral action. These have enabled increase services improve population's status. key challenges be addressed, inadequate services, inequity access, slow transition provide for noncommunicable diseases, quality care, high out-of-pocket expenditure. To resolve gaps beyond, needs its domestic financing target disadvantaged locations populations precision public approach. need addressed whole sustainable development agenda.
