摘要: Abstract The metabolic actions of insulin and insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) were compared in cultured skeletal muscle cells from nondiabetic (ND) type 2 diabetic subjects. Insulin stimulated glucose uptake with comparable sensitivity ND (EC 50 = 2.0 [plusmn] 0.7 nmol/L) (1.3 0.4) cells. IGF-1 for stimulation was similar 0.30 0.06 (0.37 0.01). In cells, equally potent glycogen synthase (GS) activity. However, maximal both responses only half the increases due to IGF-1. Final absolute activities after still lower Hormonal Akt phosphorylation exhibited same behavior as responses; muscle, while significantly more effective Both receptor (IR) binding protein expression not different IGF-binding proteins (IGFBP) 3, 5, 6 cells; IGFBP-4 slightly, but higher, While are on markedly resistant than greater activity may provide new insights into mechanisms resistance muscle.
