摘要: Expression of the bcl-2 proto-oncogene on chromosome 18 is deregulated by 14; chromosomal translocation, an abnormality that consistently associated with follicular non-Hodgkin's lymphomas (NHL). Because believed to function prolonging cell survival rather than increasing proliferation, presence t(14; 18) in Hodgkin's disease (HD) would have profound implications for pathogenesis this neoplasm. We evaluated 32 cases HD polymerase chain reaction (PCR). These results were correlated expression oncogenic protein Hodgkin cells and Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), as determined immunohistochemistry or situ hybridization. PCR provided evidence only 2 (6%), both which a prior history lymphoma, among 7 (22%) strong cells. In at least 1 cases, translocation involved identical breakpoints types lymphoma. Furthermore, additional combined NHL showed staining Although EBV was detected 6 30 it not usually expression. suggest small proportion might evolve from NHL, possibly through molecular events superimposed 18). High-level potentially useful but definitive marker these cases.
