摘要: Abstract Mexiletine was given to 59 patients with acute or chronic ventricular arrhythmias. Efficacy assessed by long-term tape-recording of electrocardiograms computer analysis. Intravenous mexiletine successfully suppressed arrhythmias in 31 43 patients, partial control a further 9. After intravenous bolus injections initial high rates infusion were required maintain therapeutic plasma concentrations. Cardiovascular toxicity occurred 6, and severe non-cardiac Oral well absorbed non-acute 12 16 3. Therapeutic concentrations the range 0·5-2·0 μg. per ml., while usually associated levels above 3·0 ml. The mean half-life 18·7 hours 10·2 healthy volunteers. Although effective treatment arrhythmias, its main potential appears be as oral antiarrhythmic agent.
