摘要: This paper attempts to explain circumstances under which local may be or not best. Natural selection lead adaptation (LA), it constrained by gene flow, founder effects, small population size, genetic drift, and archetype. ‘Specialist’ species display greater LA than ‘generalist’ species. Local genotypes are a certain extent transient, being consequence of past historical patterns. Two recent meta-analyses found that while performance exceeded the randomly chosen nonlocal in 71% comparisons, general across environments was as frequent LA. Genotypes for restoration most likely effective if they adapted current site conditions. As environmental change accelerates, both globally locally, exceptions ‘local is best’ increase. For these reasons, better thought testable hypothesis rather assumption. While either plant material practice depending on individual circumstances, will continue first choice practitioners whenever this option feasible effective.
