摘要: Only a quarter of reintroduction programs succeed in restoring self-sustaining population an extirpated species. Optimal source selection for restoration efforts can increase the fitness translocated individuals and improve success. Here, we describe support two strategies selecting populations: pre-existing adaptation adaptive potential. The strategy focuses on populations with high frequency genotypes that confer adaptations, within this detail ancestry matching approach environment approach. potential heritable genetic variation to adapt, single multiple We review empirical tests different approaches, find stronger than strategy. provide framework based strategies, highlighting importance gathering information key features locations, as well knowledge gaps. Filling these gaps is important validating potentially revising our proposed framework, ultimately improving success rate populations.
