摘要: Worldwide species relocations are increasingly becoming an important part of recovery programmes and ecosystem restoration initiatives. Monitoring reintroduced populations after release, in addition to understanding which factors affect translocations, is fundamental understand the reintroduction process maximize success future interventions. By using boosted regression trees we evaluated contribution roe deer Capreolus capreolus reintroductions (1971–2008) current distribution this Catalonia (Spain), a partial least square approach was used evaluate influence some variables as key for success. Our results show that currently occupies 85% territory, represents almost six-fold increase since beginning 90s. Proximity nearest nuclei identified one main drivers positively associated Catalonia, whereas number years first animals released were reintroductions. We recommend release sites contain large suitable patches habitat sufficiently close allow population continuity.
