摘要: Abstract Multi-element analyses of more than 600 panned heavy-mineral concentrate samples from the Jameson Land area central East Greenland were investigated by discriminant analysis which, combined with an a priori knowledge geology, was used to assist interpretation and classification data. The importance sample density, method degree grouping investigated. Also effect using either within-covariance or pooled covariance matrices in functions studied. Discriminant assumes element concentrations be normally distributed that equality within-covariances exists. These assumptions not always met, this probably main reason why one-third could classified. However, study shows data, although it is historical forms only part regional reconnaissance survey, benefits application analysis.
