摘要: Treatment of Acinetobacter baumannii infections is challenging owing to widespread multidrug resistance and the lack novel agents. There now considerable interest in potential unorthodox combination therapies such as colistin glycopeptides (e.g. vancomycin teicoplanin), since potent synergy can be demonstrated vitro. A simple invertebrate model (Galleria mellonella) has been developed assess vivo activity antimicrobial was used investigate efficacy combined with lipoglycopeptide telavancin treatment A. infection. Galleria mellonella larvae were inoculated 10⁵ CFU/larvae type strain ATCC 19606 or multidrug-resistant clinical isolate AB210. Infected caterpillars treated either (10 mg/kg), (2.5 mg/kg) a telavancin/colistin combination. Larvae incubated at 37 °C for up 96 h scored daily. Survival curves plotted analysed using log-rank test. The effective infected both strains but superior monotherapy AB210 (P<0.001). This agreement previous vitro study provides preliminary evidence that might useful therapeutically.
