Combination therapy in severe Acinetobacter baumannii infections: an update on the evidence to date

摘要: Acinetobacter baumannii is a drug-resistant Gram-negative pathogen increasingly causing hospital-acquired infections in critically ill patients. In this review, we summarize the current mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance A. and describe detail recent vitro vivo experimental data on activity combinations against microorganism. We then introduce rationale for use combination antibiotic therapy resistant infections. Finally, present discuss both uncontrolled clinical studies few randomized trials these infections, with special focus ongoing multinational optimal approach to future research field.
