摘要: Epileptogenesis is the process that leads to development of epilepsy: propensity have recurrent, spontaneous seizures. During epileptogenesis, brain excitability increases due molecular, cellular and network alterations. These changes are thought be initiated by one or more insults which may naturally occurring events such as traumatic injury, but can also modeled in animals, using chemically induced status epilepticus (SE: a prolonged seizure). The study epileptogenesis critical for (a) identifying patients who at risk developing epilepsy (b) targeting drugs modify epileptogenic could therefore prevent disease.
