摘要: Background. The aim of this retrospective observational study was to review the use an intermittent pneumatic compression device on nonhealing wounds in patients with critical limb ischemia at Mayo Clinic Rochester. Methods. setting a community and referral multidisciplinary wound care clinic. authors analysed 107 patients, median age 73, active ulcers started using between 1998 2000; 101 had lower extremity ulcers, 25% history amputation, 64% diabetes. Of all wounds, were multifactorial etiology, 60% associated transcutaneous oxygen tension levels below 20 mmHg. Patients typically asked home affected limb(s) for 6 hours daily. main outcome criterion complete healing preservation. Results. follow-up after initiation treatment months. Complete preservation achieved by 40% TcPO 2 mmHg; 48% osteomyelitis or infection; 46% diabetes treated insulin; 28% previous amputation. Half amputations occurred prior amputations. Seven discontinued because pain experienced its use. Conclusions. high risk amputation can achieve device.
