摘要: Candida species are common causes of bloodstream infections (BSI), with high mortality. Four cause >90% BSI: C. albicans, glabrata, parapsilosis, and tropicalis. Differentiation spp. is important because differences in virulence antimicrobial susceptibility. QuickFISH BC, a multicolor, qualitative nucleic acid hybridization assay for the identification albicans (green fluorescence), glabrata (red parapsilosis (yellow was tested on Bactec BacT/Alert blood culture bottles which signaled positive automated devices were yeast by Gram stain at seven study sites. The results compared to conventional identification. A total 419 yeast-positive studied, consisting 258 clinical samples (89 79 23 18 tropicalis, 49 other species) 161 contrived inoculated isolates (40 46 36 19 20 species). 415 contained single fungal species, (n = 129; 30.8%) being most isolate, followed 125; 29.8%), 59; 14.1%), tropicalis 37; 8.8%), krusei 17; 4.1%). overall agreement (with range three major between two methods 99.3% (98.3 100%), sensitivity 99.7% 100%) specificity 98.0% (99.4 100%). This showed that BC rapid accurate method identifying causing BSI, directly from bottles.
