摘要: Objective To describe a technique for video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) extirpation of the tracheobronchial lymph nodes (TBLN), and to quality biopsy specimens obtained. Design Experimental study. Animals Purpose-bred male hound-mix research dogs (n = 8). Methods Dogs were randomized groups left-sided or right-sided VATS approaches. One lung ventilation was used TBLN dissection achieved using vessel-sealing device. Results TBLNs ipsilateral approach successfully identified removed thoracoscopically in 7 dogs. A 3-port 6 4 ports 2 Observed complications included mild-moderate hemorrhage from perinodal tissue controlled (n = 2), inability locate any (1), difficulty achieving maintaining one-lung (4). No other major occurred all recovered uneventfully. Median percentage surface area bisected affected by crush artifact 20% (range, 0–40%). Areas present central (7/11) peripheral (9/11) locations. Conclusions Clinical Relevance Thoracoscopic is feasible with normal may be useful obtaining more detailed staging on microscopic disease status oncologic patients normal-sized TBLNs. Further study warranted determine feasibility limitations this clinical overt lymphadenopathy.
