摘要: In cities, landscape palms and trees are planted for scenic views normally maintained with frequent irrigation. With similar water input, their morphological difference may lead to different water-use that varies seasonally. Thus, evaluating patterns is necessary achieve proper urban management. Here, we examined characteristics of Tabebuia argentea Ptychosperma macarthurii, a tree palm species, in roof garden Bangkok, Thailand. Self-constructed Granier’s probes were used sap flux measurement monitored five months 2016. Results showed transpired 3–4 times higher than daily. watering, was more sensitive increasing vapor pressure deficit (D) on rain-free days. When rainfall occurred, however, both species became less D continued consuming at high D. Extending the analysis include hypothetical warming climate +4.8 °C temperature, found saved However, daily transpiration increased similarly by 14–18% rainy These results imply provide ecosystem benefits conservatively using under drought decelerating runoff from when storms come. contrast, macarthurii disservice dry season but slow down wet therefore benefiting downstream ecosystems. findings useful selective planting associated future changes precipitation patterns, leading sustainable
