摘要: This chapter chronicles changes in wolf abundance and identifies the significant events gray ( Canis lupus ) management Michigan from early 1800s to present (Table 5.1 ). We recognize three important time periods. Initially, populations declined (1817–1959) due public policy that sought eliminate wolves. During second period (1960–1988), wolves struggled maintain their existence state. Public changed were granted legal protection. Despite this protection an increasing shift attitudes favored (and environment general), a minority of residents evidently prevented reestablishing population. third (1989–present), staged remarkable comeback.
