Clonidine in prophylaxis of migraine

摘要: Various drugs have been used in migraine to bring down the frequency of attacks. Recently clonidine hydrochloride, an antihypertensive agent, has reported be effective. The mechanism action this drug is not clear, but it thought act through its effect on tyramine metabolism. A double-blind cross-over trial using and identical-looking placebo tablets was carried out 20 patients migraine. There no statistically significant difference between reducing attacks, as evaluated by non-parameteric test Wilcoxon. No side effects were observed.
