摘要: Abstract Background . Medical illness has often been thought to provide smokers with motivation quit smoking. However, the actual impact that and hospitalization on smokers' interest in cessation is not clear. Further, little known about role hospital staff play encouraging cessation. Methods This article a descriptive study examining smoking prevalence among 304 inpatients hospitalized specialized cardiovascular disease unit general medical unit. In addition, efforts of promoting were assessed. Results The overall this older sample was 16%. Although majority (79%) indicated desire smoking, there using formal treatment options quit. Quitting one's own most preferred strategy. Approximately one-third expressed receiving counseling from their physicians.
