摘要: Co-cultures of hippocampal and striatal slices were prepared from 7-day-old rats. After a month in vitro they examined by histochemical electrophysiological techniques. Acetylcholinesterase-positive fibers, originating presumed cholinergic local circuit neurons the striatum, invaded adjacent hippocampus, resulting functional innervation displaying characteristics muscarinic inputs. These observations demonstrate that interneurons, when offered an appropriate target, are capable mimicking projection neurons. Such target-induced change growth can take place even during relatively advanced phases their development.
