摘要: Purpose The aim of this study was to implement a time effective 1-1 double pulse water-selective excitation (WE) into three-dimensional ultrashort echo (UTE) sequence (WE-UTE) for visualization short-T2 tissues with positive contrast and sufficient suppression surrounding fat. Methods First, an analytical description magnetization components in the steady state applying WE-UTE derived results were compared numerical simulations based on Bloch's equations. Parameters optimized best between fat under consideration variable relaxation properties over broad range. Maximal signal yield efficiency on-resonant protons UTE sequences without off-resonance saturation (FatSat). exemplarily applied in-vivo musculoskeletal imaging 3T whole-body MR unit. Results Steady could be described analytically showed excellent accordance simulations. Even T2 = 1 ms resulted 79% maximal FatSat more efficient regarding if FatSat. Using tendons ligaments well delineated fat. Conclusion WE-UTE provides quick method visualizing contrast. Magn Reson Med 71:534–543, 2014. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
