摘要: Abstract We evaluated the potential of an injectable degradable polymer—poly(sebacic-co-ricinoleic-ester-anhydride) containing gentamicin for treatment osteomyelitis. Osteomyelitis both tibiae was induced in 13 female Fischer rats by injecting a suspension approximately 105 (CFU)/ml S. aureus into tibial medullar canal. Three weeks later were X-rayed, drilled down canal, washed with 50 μl solution (80 mg/2 ml) and then injected P(SA-RA) + gentamycin 20% w/v to right tibia P(SA-RA) without left tibia. After additional 3 weeks, sacrificed, radiographs taken. Histopathological evaluation done blinded manner. X-ray showed that all developed changes compatible osteomyelitis 3 weeks. Histological revealed significant differences between 10 rats. In moderate intramedullary abscess formation occurred. most treated typical included absence (or minimal grade only) abscesses. The group significantly less abscesses; p value 0.028. Locally polymer releasing proved be efficient histologically
