摘要: To examine the potentially competing influences of microzooplankton and calcite mineral ballast on organic matter remineralization, we incubated diatoms in darkness rolling tanks with without added minerals (coccoliths) (rotifers). Concentrations particulate (POM suspension or aggregates), dissolved (DOM), inorganic nutrients were monitored over 8 days. The presence rotifers enhanced remineralization ammonium phosphate, but not silicon, from biogenic matter, up to 40% which became incorporated into aggregates early experiment.
