摘要: OBJECTIVE Breast milk is the recommended method of nutrition for newborns and infants. Several studies have investigated factors associated with cessation breast-feeding. This study assessed associations between pacifier use, digit sucking, childcare attendance, breastfeeding among 1387 infants in Iowa Fluoride Study. STUDY DESIGN was a longitudinal questionnaire survey. Mothers completed mailed questionnaires sent at infant ages 6 weeks, 3 months, months. POPULATION Parents were recruited postpartum 8 hospitals. OUTCOMES MEASURED Survival analysis (using Cox proportional hazards model) time covariate effects child care attendance on breastfeeding, while adjusting other possible confounding variables (not planning to breastfeed, maternal smoking, infants' sex antibiotic paternal age education, income group). RESULTS Percentages women who did any 46%, 36%, 27%, respectively. using pacifiers 81%, 71%, 59%. Combinations use sucking various levels had statistically significant effect being strongest users suckers no days (hazard ratio = 1.88; 95% CI, 1.36-2.62). CONCLUSIONS Pacifier results dependent level attendance. The found those not attending combined sucking.
