摘要: Abstract Background: In recent years, there has been a rise in the number of premature births. Mothers these newborns experience high degree stress over time. Since more comprehensive understanding this phenomenon can help healthcare teams detecting deficiencies and needs such newborns’ mothers for better effective intervention, present study was carried out to describe mothers’ experiences area birth. Materials Methods: The is qualitative with content analysis approach. data collection process included 15 semi‑structured in‑depth interviews  elivering babies during 2012-2013 medical educational centers north northwest Iran. A purposive sampling method used. All were recorded, typed, finally analyzed using conventional method. Results: Data led extraction continuous multiple waves emotional responses This revealed by different categories affective reactions, symptoms anxiety, mood disturbances including decline performance, individual shortcomings, mental irritation. Conclusions: Mothers’ unpreparedness unexpected childbirth make them encounter responses, which will consequently lead irritation among them. Therefore, order prevent negative long‑term consequences it recommended that attention should be given support as main caregivers infants. Key words: Content analysis, experiences, infant
