摘要: The seed and seedling mortality ofFagus crenata Blume after a mast year (1993) was examined in relation to density distance from the nearest conspecific adult tree mixed conifer-hardwood forest Ohdaigahara, western Japan. of fallen seeds during winter amounted 93.7%, 79.2% current-year seedlings died first growing season. most important factor death for both predation by vertebrates. positively correlated with sound density. but not significantly related crown edge tree. Mortality patterns varied stages spatial scales due behavior predators; it is thus investigate pattern at various temporal scales. After season, difference between classes significant <4m trees density-dependent mortality. However, lower ≥4 m class than <4 classes.
